# MAtchUP: Johanna Primary School – An Energy-Saving Pilot Project Comes to a Close

September 29, 2022

A four-year energy-saving pilot project is coming to a close. The [pilot project at the 102nd Primary School was successfully completed on September 22, 2022.](https://www.dresden.de/de/rathaus/aktuelles/pressemitteilungen/2022/09/pm_079.php) One result is a reduction of around one third in heating energy at Johanna Primary School on Pfotenhauerstraße in Dresden’s Johannstadt district. Energy monitoring and a digital twin of the school building fed with sensor data enabled optimization of the heating controls. Our colleague Tom Eckhardt was on site and explains how this works.
