Modeling Heating Networks With SimulationX
DBFZ acquired SimulationX licenses and libraries for this project. Specialist consulting was provided to introduce GreenCity and DistrictHeatingGridLib, including creation of an initial district heating network based on an existing network in Saxony and its associated plant model. During the collaboration, EASD further developed the library and created some specialized solutions for DBFZ’s applications. The project partner received support throughout the project on modeling and simulation questions.

The IE-BioNetz project (Integration and Assessment of Renewable Energy in Existing Heating Networks and Decentralized Heat Supply Concepts, funding reference 22405317) investigated the current situation and future options for combining bioenergy with other renewable energy sources in heating networks and decentralized system solutions. It examined political conditions, technical and economic aspects, environmental and climate impacts, and barriers and drivers for individual heat generators. The project placed particular emphasis on the economics of different heat supply options and the subsequent assessment of these concepts. Using two selected existing reference heating networks, concrete, innovative, and sustainable network concepts and potential decentralized system solutions were investigated for the existing infrastructure as examples of Smart Bioenergy.
Smart Bioenergy encompasses the development of modern biomass utilization systems into integrated systems that interact optimally with different renewable energy sources on the one hand and combined material and energy utilization within the bioeconomy on the other.
