Representing Hydrogen Systems in a Digital Twin
In earlier projects, a monitoring infrastructure for internal energy processes and systems was established together with EASD. It can generate a wide range of real measurements for electric vehicle charging, electricity, heating, cooling, and weather.
A digital twin model of the Smart Company test site in Offenbach am Main was also developed with HRI-EU. In a follow-up project in 2019, this digital twin model was extended with suitable models. It can now represent and simulate the hydrogen system components supplying vehicles and the test site in Offenbach am Main with electricity and hydrogen. Existing charging infrastructure and vehicle fleet models were updated at the same time, retaining the parameterization developed with HRI-EU.
This project delivered an initial set of model prototypes to complement the existing model libraries and digital twin model, including a first testing process using available measurement data and other information. A subsequent agile project added new model components and modified others to extend functionality and improve usability.

During extensive testing of the implemented framework, HRE-G identified additional requirements for simulation performance and model stability. This project aims to test and implement suitable measures for model acceleration and improved stability. The existing framework is also to be extended with additional system components.
