Residence and Mobility – Connecting Buildings, Generators, and Electric Vehicles

Overview of the connected building energy system in the Residence and Mobility project

The Residence and Mobility collaborative project analyzed energy-saving potential from renewable energy and modern storage elements in buildings. It developed a Modelica-based simulation program for building supply systems using decentralized renewable energy sources.

An overarching building energy management system visualizes and controls energy flows between generators, consumers, and building-integrated storage. A self-learning, modular communication and network infrastructure for charging stations was also developed.

Project Details

  • Validation of energy management algorithms using simulation results
  • Reference facility with a heat pump, local energy generation, storage, and a charging station in Dresden-Blasewitz
  • Intelligent control of energy flows between the PV system, battery storage, and heat pump
