Assessing the Plant and Control Concept of a Zero-Energy Primary School
Wermsdorf intends to construct a two-story primary school to the zero-energy standard. The building is heated by an efficient heat pump with geothermal probes. Its thermal mass (concrete core activation) is intended to capture the efficiency benefits of low-temperature heating. To support IPROconsult’s planners, EA Systems Dresden GmbH performed model-based assessments of energy demand and the plant and control concept.
Thermal and Plant Simulation
- Modeling of plant equipment and controls
- Determination of heating and electricity demand through dynamic simulation of use and building behavior
- Determination of room- and zone-specific thermal and electrical loads as load curves
- Compliance documentation under EnEV 2016 for nonresidential buildings (energy demand certificate) and EEWärmeG
Control Optimization
- Specifications for individual room air control and room-specific sizing of heating and ventilation equipment
- Model-based investigation of plant alternatives
- Model-based investigation of plant controls
- Simulation of a preferred alternative and determination of optimal controls and investment and operating costs
