We are pleased to have supervised another student’s master’s thesis and defense this year.
The thesis developed a toolchain for transferring information from BIM (Building
Information Modeling) to BEM.
With rising energy demand and the need to plan and optimize buildings and energy systems
accurately, tools that accelerate and simplify the transfer of information from BIM to BEM are essential.
The IFC2GC toolchain, developed in the
FMI4BIM research project, automatically extracts information
from IFC files, processes it, and exports it into blocks from the Green City Library for
SimulationX. IFC2GC saves users time when creating complex building models for
simulation, while avoiding interoperability issues and common BIM-to-BEM errors.
