GreenCity Simulation Library
Model connected energy systems dynamically, compare technical alternatives, and investigate operating and control concepts before implementation.
Product Overview
Investigating Energy Systems Before Implementation
The GreenCity Simulation Library supports the planning, optimization, and assessment of building, plant, and district energy systems in SimulationX. It combines models of generators, storage, networks, and consumers into application-specific overall systems. Technical interactions and alternatives can be investigated before plants are built or existing systems are modified.
Alongside thermal and electrical components, the library includes building and plant models, different storage technologies, and models for electromobility, controls, and user behavior. For research and pilot projects, custom models can be developed and integrated into existing systems.
- Model coupled energy systems dynamically
- Compare system and control alternatives
- Assess planning and operation technically

Applications
Example Models From GreenCity
Combined Heat and Power for a Street
The model represents a street’s space heating, domestic hot water, and electricity demand through load profiles. A combined heat and power plant supplies the consumers; thermal storage buffers heat load peaks. Among other things, the simulation shows how heat-led operation affects coverage of the electrical load.
Multizone Building With an Electric Vehicle
This example combines a two-zone building, an electric vehicle, a charging station, and battery storage. A photovoltaic system and a small wind turbine supply electricity; an air-to-water heat pump provides heating.
Office With Thermal, Cooling, and Ice Storage
The model investigates an office building with heating and cooling demand. A heat pump generates heat for building heating and cooling energy for building cooling. Ice storage buffers cooling energy seasonally, while sensible cooling storage provides short-term buffering.
Charging Station Supplied by Renewable Energy
The model represents an electric vehicle charging station with a photovoltaic system and electrical storage. It enables investigation of the extent to which vehicles can be charged with locally generated renewable energy.
