In this project, SimulationX licenses and libraries were acquired by the DBFZ. In this context, a technical consultation on the introduction of the GreenCity and DistrictHeatingGridLib has been also carried out. This included the creation of a first district heating grid using the example of an existing district heating grid in Saxony and the associated plant model. In the course of the collaboration, the library was further developed by EASD and in some cases special solutions were found for DBFZ applications. The project partner was supported throughout the entire project period with questions regarding the modeling and simulation.

Services and content focus

Within the project (“IE-BioNetz: Integration and Evaluation of Renewable Energies in Existing Heat Grids and Decentralized Heat Supply Concepts” FKZ: 22405317), the status quo and future combination possibilities of bioenergy with other renewable energy sources in heating grids and decentralized system solutions were investigated. Political framework conditions, technical and economic aspects, environmental and climate impacts as well as barriers and drivers of individual heat generators were investigated. A special focus in this project was on the economic consideration of different heat supply options and the subsequent evaluation of these concepts. Based on two selected, already existing reference heating grids, concrete, innovative and sustainable grid concepts and possible decentralized system solutions were investigated for the existing infrastructure as an example of “Smart Bioenergy”.

In this context, “Smart Bioenergy” comprises the further development of modern biomass utilization systems towards integrated systems consisting in the optimized interaction with different renewable energy sources on the one hand and the coupled material-energetic utilization within the bioeconomy on the other hand.
